Régina was exposed to music very early in life within her immediate family and this eventually encouraged her not only to practice, but also to teach. These two functions occupied the bulk of her time. Although accomplished on several instruments (piano, dulcimer, mandolin, banjo, bass, accordion, harmonica, flute, etc.), Régina's specialty is the guitar, for which she has provided instruction in several styles for 24 years. While possessing a Teaching Diploma from Normal School in Fredericton, and a Masters from l`Université de Moncton, Régina has been able to benefit her students through her personal reflections on teaching methods. Régina can certainly be considered one of the pioneers of personalized teaching, which has now become the benchmark method of teaching utilized at the Metro Moncton School of Music. Apart from her activities in our School, Régina has been involved with numerous workshops, seminars, etc. specifically with the guitar: (Campbellton 1972; Université de Moncton 1975; Saint Patrick Family Centre 1980; Grand Falls 1980). Régina was also an invited artist to several cultural engagements (Nuit de la Poésie; Centre universitaire de Moncton in Edmundston 1977; Foire Brayonne 1978 and 1979; Frolic Acadien, Moncton 1982 and 1984; Spectacle au Kacho, Université de Moncton 1983; Radio CKUM 1984; Télévion "Coup d`oeil" 1985; Miramichi Folk Music Festival 1987), and these are some of the reasons why Régina's reputation is one of the very special attributes of which our School is proud. >>Return to teachers page |
