Monette Gould - Voice
Soprano Monette Gould is an accomplished stage performer and is known for the sensitivity and musicality that she brings to her music. She has performed throughout Canada including in her home province, New Brunswick.
After early vocal study and choral experience in the Moncton area, Monette Gould studied for ten years in Toronto. She holds an ARCT diploma and a Licentiate in vocal performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and a diploma in Opera Performance from the University of Toronto. While there, she appeared in several opera productions, including the roles of Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosí fan tutte, the Countess in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, and Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. In 1998 she appeared as Mimi in Opera New Brunswick’s production of Puccini’s La Bohème.
Having returned to New Brunswick, Monette Gould presently teaches vocal performance at Mount Allison University and also privately; she has also taught at the Université de Moncton. She is the director of a new chamber vocal ensemble, NouvelAir, as well as artistic director for the concert series “Les airs d’été” at the Ste-Anne-de-Beaumont Historical Church. She is active across the Maritimes as a vocal adjudicator and clinician.
During the 2005-06 season, Monette Gould will be performing several times with her Mount Allison colleagues including pianists Edmund Dawe and David Rogosin, and organist Gayle h Martin. She will also be performing a Christmas concert in Moncton with soprano Lisa Roy and pianist Julien LeBlanc.
