Casey Shalala

Biography

Having grown up in a neighborhood where bands and great musicians were sprouting up left and right, Casey grew a passion for music in his early teens. He was very intrigued with music and determined make music his future. He spent much of his spare time growing up intensely practicing the guitar, composing and studying music. His love for music laid mainly in Heavy Metal he spent a great deal of time immersing himself in that particular style while at the same time making sure he was well educated on all sorts of other styles of music. Casey is a well rounded musician.

In 2002 he co-founded a Heavy Metal group by the name of Brandon Street Massacre, this would become the main focus of Casey's creative outlet. The band would go on to have much success, play many shows and has become big part of the Atlantic Canadian Heavy Metal scene.

Casey Auditioned and was accepted into the Professional Music and Song Techniques (Arranging and Composition Option) program at Vanier College in Montreal Quebec, where he studied Jazz. Casey's primary instrument was the guitar and during his time at Vanier he studied such subjects as Theory and Application, Ear training, Music History and Instrument and Applications.

In December of 2004 Casey began teaching the guitar and bass full time at the Metro Moncton School of Music. He was also an Instructor at Rock Camp 2005. Casey is a dedicated teacher who enjoys sharing his passion and enthusiasm for music with others.
